~ Kikai Rum NFT, A New Attempt at
Regional Contribution ~

Kikai Distillery aims to utilize the innovative technology of NFTs in building a system that contributes to the local region of Kikai Island.
By selling barrels aging our rum through UniCask, we are establishing a community of barrel owners, fostering initiatives to encourage more people to actually visit Kikai Island.

Kikai Island is seriously depopulated, with a continual decrease in the younger population, dwindling from its peak of 22,000 inhabitants to fewer than 7,000.
Kikai-jima Shuzo, a producer of Kokuto-shochu, and Japan Import System, a western liquor importer, have collaborated to start rum production.
Employing the know-how of Kokuto-shochu production, and incorporating advice from experts in France, they have created a unique "Japanese Rum".
With the UniCask system, the barrel-filled rum is made available to anyone, facilitating the construction of a barrel owner community.
UniCask will be effectively utilized as crucial infrastructure to invigorate the island's economy, promoting "distillery tourism" where barrel owners visit the distillery as tourists.
Centered around Kikai Distillery, this initiative will generate a ripple effect for the surrounding areas, driving economic development for the entire island.

~ Redefining spirits with Digital ~

The value of spirits - alcoholic beverages - is backed up by "time" it has spent, and "space” it is being aged.
UniCask has realized a mechanism for owning and transferring alcohol in the digital space by recording such information as ownership of a spirits cask and its aging period and storage location.
